The EPA has given its blessing to a set of 2004 vehicle emission laws that environmentalists have been trying to get passed for years. The new rules will force automakers who want to sell vehicles in California to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent in new cars and light trucks by 2016.
The Bush Administration blocked the law in 2007 when they refused to grant a waiver under the Clean Air Act. Thirteen other states have adopted California’s stringent standards and more are in the process of doing so. More at the Ventura County Star.
