If you’re like me, you like to get your game on. Whether you’re piloting Batman through the ruins of a city, a paladin through the gates of Stormwind, or a Sim on their way to school, you grok the ways of the digitally inclined. Did you know that there is a way to do this in an eco-friendly fashion? I didn’t either. Here are a few ways to green up your game.

Modify Your PS3 Settings
The Playstation 3 is notorious for being a hydro-suck. Program it to turn off if you aren’t using it for a stretch of a couple of hours. If you prefer to leave it on, make sure you are participating in Folding@Home, a project where scientists get to use the PS3’s of the world to do things like map human genomes.

Plan It Green
You know those mindless games that we play to keep ourselves amused? Here’s one that you can download for $6.99 that will teach you or your kids all about green building technology. You had me at $6.99.

Download Your Games
Most gaming platforms including XBox 360, PS3 and others have options for downloading purchased games rather than buying them. This not only keeps a case from cluttering up your shelves, it saves on the plastic and shipping as well.

Buy Used Games
There is virtually no difference between a used game and a new game. Most game retailers will have a warranty in place which will allow you to return the game if there is anything wrong with it, thus negating any reservations anyone would have about buying used. Again, less plastic, and cheaper for you. Go out and buy yourself some organic toothpaste with what you save.

Venture Arctic
So its from 2008. Sue me. Even if it sucks harder than the sequel to Donkey Kong, the packaging is made from 100% recycled material.
