Baby furniture is expensive enough that just a little extra digging can turn up more eco-friendly accoutrements for your little one’s nursery. Most new moms are really conscious about this stuff, as lead and other toxic compounds in everyday household items can potentially have an effect on the development of your child. Here are just a few spots to start if you are looking to build an organic nursery.

A Child Grows in Brooklyn
This site lists pretty much everything you need. From cribs made of wood harvested in Chile using sustainable forestry practices to wool carpeting, this site has already done the research that new moms are trying to do for themselves.

EcoBaby Mattresses
These mattresses are made from organic wool. While you’re at it, why not look at our own organic mattresses for your bedroom so that mom and baby can both sleep in organic luxury?

The Ultimate Green Store
While this online outlet has lots of other stuff, this page features Moses baskets (with real Moses?), toddler beds and eco-friendly organic cribs.

It really is great to sleep in organic luxury but I heard that organic baby furniture are quite expensive. Are they really worth the cost? Are they as comfortable as the cheaper non-organic furniture?

I agree, it’s so important for people to get baby furniture that is non-toxic and eco-friendly. I came across some great info about earth-friendly nursery sets and baby bedding at http://blog.simplybabyfurniture.com This blog has so many great articles to help new parents understand what they need in their baby’s nursery and offers great nursery design tips and low cost ideas as well. I just thought I should share this info with other parents looking for eco-friendly furniture. Check out their one article on eco-friendly, multifunctional cribs, it’s really great!
