Yesterday, I wrote a post on how car companies have trouble pairing fun and efficient characteristics together. Today I was proved wrong. Audi set a new world record in their R8 E-Tron on the Nurbergring. The E-Tron is phenomenally beautiful and helps shine light on the small lineup of electric sports cars on the market today.
Modeled after the regular Audi R8, that either has a 4.2L V8 or 5.2L V10, the E-Tron offers everything the 4.2 V8 offers in performance but has zero emissions!
The E-Tron should be able to achieve 150 miles per charge and will go against the upcoming BMW i8 and Fisker Karma.
Congratulations to Audi for making a beautiful electric car. The concept of taking an existing beautiful car and transplanting the drive train with an electric one is a practice that should be widely adopted by other car makers.
