The Fusion Illusion

Can you imagine a time where energy is clean and limitless?  Some physicists think that this is just a short few decades away.  Granted, they have been saying that for many many sets of a short few decades, but this time its for real.

Do you remember the movie “The Saint?”  It is from a long time ago when Val Kilmer did a better job of hiding how weird he is.  ”The Saint” was about this professional thief who was hired to steal the formula for cold fusion technology from a horny phsyicist played by Elizabeth Shue ….  Granted they made monkey humps in the movie, but the happy ending was actually the fact that cold fusion was realized and it was going to change the world.

Fusion doesn’t have to have a cool story like that to be exciting.  Unlimited free energy sounds amazing all by itself.  Frankly,  I am tired of writing a check to PG&E every month.  With that said, I am hoping Mr. Kaku is correct and very soon I can get back to leaving the lights on in a room, and not be in it , like the good ol days.

Samsung Just Took Windows To a Hol Nutha Levuhl!

CES 2012 has had some seriously cool new gadgets that have come out but my favorite has to be the new window by Samsung.  Why is this my favorite you ask?  Simply because windows are not very amazing on their own.  However, if you’re Samsung, and you take it to a hol nutha levuhl, they suddenly become amazing.  That is the beauty of technology.

The one thing that caught my ear the most was the “Energy Efficiency” of this product.  They supposedly have a solar aspect built into the window that will help power the electronics inside the window.  If this works as described it sounds pretty cool, but I would want to dive more into it before that became a reason for me to buy it.  I would hate for it to be just another marketing ploy.

Bottom line is , CES has done it again, and it is good to see that manufactures see the need to include green aspects to their products.  With the technology companies having the ability to drastically improve their products from year to year, the more the public yearns for energy efficiency and environmentally friendly features, the better they will be, and the sooner they will be available to the public.
