Professor Ross Garnaut released his sweeping vision of what Australia could do in order to fight climate change to Australia’s government. The 652 page report suggests that lamb and beef be replaced by chicken and pork, kangaroos be exported for their meat, and farmers plant eucalyptus and grasses for carbon dioxide production. Garnaut is a professor of Economics at the Australian State University.

Professor Garnaut is optimistic that this is a target that Australia can reach. “This problem is very small compared to the resources we mobilised for the Second World War”, he said in his presentation. Some opponents of the report are already attacking it as not being ambitious enough in its targets.
