The author of “Go Green, Get Lean”, Kate Geagan, has some great tips on how we can change our eating habits to help the environment. Some of them include:
Meatless One Day a Week
Meat production consumes the most fossil fuels and simply skipping it one day a week can significantly reduce your carbon footprint.
Eat Local
Locally grown and produced foods, organic or not, have a much lower carbon footprint than a fruit that has been shipped here from South America. Treating exotic foods as a once in a while treat rather than an everyday staple will go a long way towards greening your diet.
Avoid Bottled Drinks
The shipping costs on these are high both in cost and in carbon. Consider tap water with powder juice crystals or a twist of lemon.
