New Wind Turbine Invented for Use in Cities

by Angela January 12th, 2009 - 1 Comment »

Traditional wind turbines have a few issues, not the least of which being the amount of room needed to install them.  This has proven to be a setback for the installation of wind turbines in cities, where space is at a premium.  In addition, the best sites for wind farms tend to be too far away from cities.

This is no longer an issue with a new invention from the University of Missouri by Sridhar Condoor.  His new wind turbine can be installed around an existing feature such as a vent stack or a chimney, providing not only a unique way to harness wind power but a potential cosmetic cover for undesirable building features.

good design, it should be a floating wind turbine. This design is better than vertical axis wind turbine but the problem is the security wind speed. This type wind turbine can not survival in high wind speed.
