The Tony Awards, partnered with the Broadway Green Alliance, are hoping to set a green example for New Yorkers by doing the following:

-the red carpet will be made from 100% recycled material
-the non-PVC banners will be reused at next year’s awards
-invitations will be printed on 30% recycled paper
-500 reusable water bottles will be donated to guests
-2200 cold cathode energy efficient lightbulbs will be handed out in gift bags

The Broadway Green Alliance hopes to blow way past just raising awareness to actually making a difference at this year’s Tonys with these and more measures.  More at the New York daily news.
