While this news is hardly a revelation, a poll has confirmed that Canada’s Conservative government is trailing on Canadian expectations for climate change legislation. In a two-to-one split, most Canadians agreed that the US and Canada had to set higher and harder targets for climate change. The poll was conducted by Canadian Press Harris-Decima.
Environment minister Jim Prentice offered a grim revelation at a climate change conference in Copenhagen this week:
“I have to take a realistic view that, given the amount of work that remains to be done, we’re running out of time,” Prentice told the Globe and Mail.
56% of Canadians polled didn’t believe that Canada was being aggressive enough on climate change.
