Earth 911 has spent a lot of time compiling a directory of where you can recycle your Christmas tree if you live in the US. If you don’t live in the US, or you don’t see your town or city on the directory, contact your local government to see if they have a Christmas tree recycling program near you.

Why do you want to recycle your conifer? If it ends up in a landfill, it takes a longer time to biodegrade. In some areas, Christmas trees are mulched, with the resulting mulch being distributed at no charge to the public. In some areas, Boy Scouts are collecting trees from the curbside and bringing them to recyclers.
