New Computer Gaming and Comic Magazine Launches Green

by Angela February 9th, 2010 - No Comments »

C&G Monthly is a new computer gaming and comic magazine for adult audiences that launches its first issue this month. Not only is it packed full of timely and interesting articles and developer interviews, it is printed almost entirely on post-consumer recycled paper.

The publisher, Lucid Media, does not contract out the printing of the magazine since they have more control over the inks that are used that way, and they can also control the amount of waste that is made from the process. The magazine uses special inks that many commercial printers just aren’t set up to use properly. While this adds more labour than usual to C&G’s bottom line, the publisher, Brendan Frye, believes it is worth it:

“I believe it is very important for any new magazine to put into consideration the environment when making a magazine. Using renewed resources helps ensure that not only are new forests not cut down but that the waste we have produced in the past is used for something new. C&G Monthly is taking this approach to ensure that even the comics and gaming community have the luxury of a green alternative that does not use exclusively glossy paper and harsh inks to display the information. This is something we are going in with and intend to continue pursuing throughout the course of the magazine.”

C&G Monthly is available on major newsstands across Canada starting today. Digital subscriptions are also available.
