Eco-Friendly Cat Litter

Most of us use clumping or clay litter for our cats. Clay litter can be bad for cats, and both kinds just end up filling landfills without biodegrading. What can we use instead?

Some vets use wood pellets, just like the kind that you would use for a wood stove. These are cheap, at $5.00 for a thirty pound bag, and dissolve into sawdust. They even deodorize the litter to a certain extent; those of you who are rustic enough know that sawdust offers the same effect in an outhouse. This is the cheapest, most environmentally friendly way to go according to my research. I’m running out to get a bag today and I’ll let you all know how it goes! Here are some other products to consider.
