Biodegradable 3D Glasses Coming to a Theatre Near You

by Angela April 12th, 2010 - No Comments »

Cereplast, a Los Angeles based manufacturer of bioplastics, is partnering with 3D glasses manufacturer Oculus3D to distribute the first biodegradable 3D glasses for all of these 3D movies and televisions that are coming out.

The glasses will be made from plant-based bioplastics, specifically a mixture of corn, wheat, tapioca and potatoes. This plastic will eventually biodegrade if left in a landfill, albeit at a slower rate than other materials.

I recently spoke with a Bob Williams over at Cereplast over my concerns their products might be made with Genetically Modified ingredients. He said “at the current time our products are GMO free”, but they were looking into it. Lets hope they decide to keep it that way.
