If you are in Ontario, for example, the only reason that you are purchasing California strawberries over Ontario ones is the lower cost to your supermarket because of subsidies that make imported berries cheaper than locally grown ones. Speak to your produce manager in your store and insist on local berries being sold right alongside California ones.
