Celebrate America Recycles Day!

Tomorrow, November 15th 2012, is the day when all Americans are encouraged to do their part in tackling the looming environmental crisis by simply placing an empty can in the right bin. Established in 1997 America Recycles Day (AMD) has been celebrated ever since by communities across the country. More and more individuals are becoming aware of the grave situation our planet is facing but the shift is happening too slowly.

Today we still dump over 100 million tons of trash into landfills every year. And only 32% of that waste ends up being recycled in post-consumer materials. Disturbing if you think about the facts: it takes 250 years for a plastic cup to decompose; 500 years for aluminum can; and 4000 for a glass bottle! And it only takes you a few moments to create this mess by not wanting to walk an extra block or drive an extra mile to dispose of your plastic bottle.

Let’s all make an effort in being conscious individuals and try to see pass the blip of our existence. Make it your principle and try to adhere to it on a daily bases, not once a year!

No idea what you can or can’t recycle, Recycle Now‘s sitewill make figuring it out easier. It takes no time at all to make the decision and recycle what you can!
