The nostalgic Cosby sweater has creeped into everyone’s wardrobe at some point over the passed 20 years. But do you know why, or where they originated?
Holland born Koos Vandenakker, has no claim to being a designer, but only to being a lover of fabrics, collages, and texture. His looks made it into the Cosby show by chance, when a friend of Bill purchased him one as a gift, and he actually LOVED the piece. They made a weekly appearance in the after school special show, and have been filtered across the passed two decades into Christmas parties, bad school photos, and your dads closet.
Coined is the name “Cosby Sweater”, and Koos is okay with taking a step behind the designs he’s been infamous for, just to enjoy what he loves, which is the process, and mayhem of putting together something so bizarre.
Heres a video where Koos talks about his awkward relationship with an Indusrty he never meant to make such a mark on.
