For Essentia, every day is earth day! Keeping our carbon footprint small is a big part of our culture and in turn, helps you keep yours small as well. Earth Day is a time to reflect on the impact our everyday lives can make. No contribution is too small when it come to the survival of our planet.
Here are a few ways Essentia will make your heart happy on Earth Day & every day:
Hevea Milk is the “sap” of the Rubber tree which is the nuts and bolts of our mattress. It’s used to make our natural memory foam and Dunlop Latex Foam. Our hevea milk is sourced from Indonesia and collected from Rubber Plantations with acceptable working conditions and no child labor.
We roll pack our mattresses for not only your convince, but it’s a huge win for the environment as well. Roll packing allows us to use 75% less space in a truck and 75% less packaging. Using less is always better but using boxes made from 100% recycled paper is just extra gravy.
*(99% post-consumer, 1% post industrial)
When you’ve decided it’s time to upgrade your Essentia mattress, you won’t be worried about your old Essentia living in a landfill. Your Essentia mattress will biodegrade in just 3 years when exposed to the elements; wind, rain, sun. Another healthy option for disposal is to find a mattress recycler in your area.
Waste not, want not as they say. In our factory, we shred all latex and memory foam off cuts and excess for other products such as pillows making us a zero-waste facility.
A FRIEND TO THE ANIMALS:
Sleep soundly knowing our products are Animal free (vegan). We never test on animals (although I bet they’d love a nap on Essentia it if we did)
On the local level, in lieu of Earth Day, our office is “skipping the straw.” 500 million straws are used and discarded every day in the United States. That’s 175 Billion a year filtering into landfills and littering our waterways and ocean. This is a real danger to sea life so living here on Florida’s coast we are making a vow to use reusable straws or going straw-less all together!
We want to hear how you are embracing Earth Day…maybe you will be skipping the straw with us?
