EV Does Over 1000 Miles On Single Charge!

by michael August 16th, 2011 - No Comments »

With Gas prices hovering around 4 dollars a gallon in the U.S., the switch to a more fuel-efficient cars is becoming an inevitable future for most. The biggest problem that most people face when looking into electric cars is the range anxiety.

People don’t want to segue into electric powered cars because they don’t have the luxury of filling up where ever they want in 2 minutes. Most people don’t seem to understand that having a 100-mile range for daily driving is more then enough.

Just recently a prototype car was built with the intention of satisfying this range anxiety and successfully drove over 1000 miles on just a single charge. They car didn’t go very fast and wasn’t fitted with any luxurious features but it proved a very valid point, electric cars can go the distance.

With battery technology constantly improving, electric cars will be able to get a full charge in minutes and go distances that would put any internal combustion engine to shame.

Tesla Is Going After Top Gear

by Daniya March 30th, 2011 - No Comments »

Theres a lot of buzz around the suet against the BBC show “Top Gear” for allegedly falsely representing the performance of the Tesla Roadster electric vehicle.

“Top Gear” showed a Tesla Roadster running out of electric charge during a race with the gas-powered Lotus Elise, a car that the Roadster is based on. Tesla claims that neither of the two cars it loaned to “Top Gear” for the segment dipped below 20 percent charge. The company contends there’s no way the Roadster ran out of juice, and it wants the BBC to stop airing the segment.

A spokesperson for “Top Gear” defended the show’s integrity. “We can confirm that we have received notification that Tesla have issued proceedings against the BBC. The BBC stands by the program and will be vigorously defending this claim.”

As an Avid watcher of the show “Top Gear” i can defend Tesla. Lots of the segments that the show aires are completely staged and for entertainment only. Anyone who watches the show knows that Clarkson normally takes the piss out of cars and nit picks. It makes sense that Tesla is upset, everything in the show that was over exaggerated are concerns that people have with EV cars. This show has such a vast audience that Tesla is right to defend their name.

See the segment below.

You have to watch this new Chevy Volt Commercial. It takes a leap from tradition electric car advertising and really packs the punch when demonstrating innovation. I don’t want to ruin the good bits of the commercial but,  if you have been around for several decades, it will really shine light on how far we have come in technology; the Chevy Volt being the next big step. Thank you GM for creating more then just another hybrid.
