New Plug-In And It’s A Volvo !

by michael June 18th, 2011 - No Comments »

Volvo is coming out with an awesome new Plug in Hybrid called the v60 PHEV. This new Swedish wagon is set to hit the market next year or early 2013. Little is known about this car but one this is certain, it will have the safety and performance that Volvo is known for.

With a 0-60 time under 7 seconds and a sleek new design, I’m sure this new luxury hybrid will keep a lot of driveways warm and a lot of pumps lonely. It’s great to see Volvo reinvent themselves with a new lineup of cars and do what they do best; wagons.

Nissan Leaf: A Cleaner Tomorrow

This new Nissan Leaf ad is definitely one of the best commercials for raising the question: why aren’t more cars all electric? The commercial shows all of the flaws with the internal combustion engines by applying them to real world modern appliances. Everything today is powered by electricity because electricity is clean, quiet and convenient; imagine if they weren’t. Thats what this commercial shines light on, it also pokes fun at hybrids, the Chevy Volt in particular.

Commercials like these are very important in showing our comfort and reliance on fossil fuels. Making us realize that going “green” really is the future.

GM To Power Assembly Plant With Landfill Gas

by michael May 20th, 2011 - No Comments »

The Orion Assembly Plant in Lake Orion Michigan, is set to be 40% powered by burning landfill gas collected from a nearby dump.

Landfills are huge producers of waste. They send CO2, sulfur dioxides, and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere and pollute our environment. GM has harnessed this unrenewable practice saving them 1 million dollars every year in energy.

Along with saving a lot of dough, they also are saving the environment by using all of the gasses that would normally wreak havoc on your environment.

Then in 2010 it reached 2 million sales around the world, today Toyota announced that 1 million Prius’s have been sold in the U.S. alone. It’t no wonder why where ever you go you will always see a Prius. Here in Santa Monica, you cant see more then 10 cars without one being a Prius, thats probably why Toyota has filmed there most recent commercials in Santa Monica.

Prius’s have saved Americans around  881 million gallons of gas, $2.19 billion in fuel costs, and 12.4 million tons of CO2 emissions, when compared to the average car. We cant wait for the new hybrid and plug-in arrivals Toyota is set to release.
