Eco-fashion company Nau and Klean Kanteen collaborate to give you a cool-looking, reusable bottle – made with nothing more but stainless steel, food grade silicone, and bamboo. As simple as this!

Normally reusable water bottles are made out of plastic, which can be harmful for both or health as well as our surroundings. A few come swathed with paint and rubber seals that make them all the more toxic. Nau and Klean Kanteen’s new co-branded reusable water bottle made from stainless steel, food-grade silicone, and sustainably harvested bamboo. The simplicity of the ingredients makes this flask unique, as it is completely free of paint, plastic, and rubber seals.

by Daniya April 28th, 2011 - No Comments »

Now you can browse while you charge. Macy’s and ECOtality, builder of electric charging stations, are teaming up to install some at California stores.

Macy’s announced this week it’s going to start installing charging stations for customers who drive electric vehicles. It’s part of a government-funded project to promote the newest generation of electric cars — the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt being the two most talked-about examples.

“With Macy’s focus on environmental initiatives, we are thrilled to announce their entrance as the first department store chain into The EV Project,” said Jonathan Read, CEO of ECOtality. “We are executing on our strategy to install Blink EV charging stations at locations where people visit as part of their daily routines. Our vision is to continue to expand our network so that it will not be about finding a station to plug in, but about parking and plugging in where you shop, eat, work, and play.”

Waterless ecoUrinal to Save Water

by Daniya April 2nd, 2011 - No Comments »

Using the bathroom is probably more wasteful then you think. Flushing water isn’t sustainable and wastes lots of water and energy.  Rubbermaid Commercial Products is releasing a new waterless bathroom product called the ecoUrinal which could save facilities an average of 40,000 gallons of water per year.

Saving water with urinals is no new idea, urinals themselves use very little water; howver, EcoUrinal has eliminated the need for water at all. This new innovation is a breakthrough in restroom sustainability. Moreover because no water is used, the need for flushing is removed. This allows the user to have less contact with the urinal and have cleaner bathroom experience.

The Rubbermaid ecoUrinal uses a unique enzyme cartridge that lasts 10 years and replaces standard urinal pucks. These enzyme tablets kill the odor, and also keep the drain lines clear. This is great, because this process eliminates the use of harsh chemical drain cleaners.

Learn more about how you can make your building even greener using Rubbermaid Commercial Products’ ecoUrinals in your washrooms by visiting their official site.

Clorox Co. Takes The Lead

by Daniya February 11th, 2011 - No Comments »

The Clorox Co. sent out a press release announcing that it will disclose the specific preservatives, dyes and fragrances it uses in its cleaning, disinfecting and laundry products sold in the U.S. and Canada.

Clorox Co. Stated ” it will begin replacing the labels on its products; the new labels will refer consumers to the ingredients website, where they can learn about the purpose of each ingredient as well as its safety issues.”

This is a huge leap forward in understanding what kinds of chemicals people are exposed to on the daily basis. It is a very bold move for clorox to allow people to see everything in their products. I applaud them for stepping up and educating people on modern cleaning ingredients.
