Julie Bass from Oak Park, Michigan decided to plant an organic garden in her front yard. While you would think this wouldn’t be an issue because it is her property, according to the local building codes, a vegetable garden isn’t “suitable live plant material” and Bass has been slapped with a misdemeanor charge. The city planner says in the above interview that her garden do not fit that definition, and gives as an explanation that if you look up “suitable” in the dictionary, it means “common”.
I think if you looked up “d-bag” in the dictionary, you’d see his picture. Any lawyer could make mincemeat of that argument in short order, and there is already a groundswell of support for the Bass garden on Reddit.
