As far as fruits go, cherries are at the top of everyone’s favourite list. Producers of organic cherries in California expect an increased demand this year, so much so that California’s organic cherry producers hope to harvest 160 acres of cherry trees this year.
Conventional growers are upgrading their equipment so that they can manage to grow organic products. Organic cherries require more cooling post-harvest than conventional cherries. The largest hurdle the organic growers have been facing is weed suppression.
