This spot for the Nissan Leaf has been making the rounds on the internet. A polar bear witnesses his home being destroyed in the Arctic and goes on a quest to thank someone who is helping him out. What is more interesting than the spot itself are some of the internet comments that it is getting, like “it takes fossil fuels to charge electric cars”. Of course it does, but right now it takes higher amounts of fossil fuels to run gas and diesel-powered vehicles. The point is to conserve, and eventually get more of the power that is feeding the electric cars to convert over to wind and solar. This “but it just makes sense!” argument is a favourite of the car and oil industry, and just frankly doesn’t hold up to even the most cursory hole-poking.
Also, Robert Downey Jr’s voice is voicing over the end. You weren’t hallucinating.
