Bill McKibben and others have invited protestors to surround the White House on November 6 as a symbolic protest to the XL Pipeline. The idea is to remind Obama of his campaign promises to “end the tyranny of oil”. The hashtag on Twitter is #surround.
Several prominent actors, such as Mark Ruffalo and David Straitharin, will be present at the action to protest the Keystone XL Pipeline, a pipeline which is to transport dirty oil from Canada’s tar sands to Texas for refining, spanning many environmentally sensitive areas of the United States.
