(Posing Young Mustangs – Larry Semchuk Photo)
We, at Essentia Calgary, would like to thank all those who helped make the Wild Horse Awareness Event a success July 12, 2012. Among attendees were Essentia’s congenial Vice-President, Jonathan Michel, from Laval, Quebec, as well as Calgary’s own Pursuit of Happiness Meet-up Group.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Larry Semchuk, Pages Bookstore, and WHOAS (Wild Horses of Alberta Society) members, Bob and Fran, who attended and dispensed books, photographs, and information about the wild horses. We are appreciative of the efforts of animal activist, Carol Tracey, who provided information and helped us publicize the event. Bouquets to Queen Boutique staff who loaned us their book-signing table and carried it away again later! We would also like to thank all those who came to our showroom, learned about the plight of Alberta’s wild horses, and pledged their support for the future well-being of the horses.
The Wild Horse Awareness Event is over for this year. However, the health and safety of Alberta’s wild horses will depend on continued public involvement and support. We urge you to become involved. For more information about WHOAS, you may wish to visit the webpage.
Larry Semchuk’s photographs will remain in the Essentia Calgary showroom at 1113 Kensington Road NW until August 3, 2012. You can also view more of Larry Semchuk’s photos here. Larry Semchuk’s book, Running Free: The Wild Horses of Alberta’s East Slopes, is available at Pages Bookstore on Kensington Road, as is Edward T. Chamberlin’s HORSE: How the Horse Has Shaped Civilizations. Larry has kindly agreed to re-visit Essentia’s showroom July 22, 2012, for a further book signing.
