The Toronto Beekeepers Co-operative have beehives at Downsview Park and the Royal York Hotel. They help protect threatened bees and provide training and public education using outreach programs.
Over 1200 pounds of honey was produced by the Co-op in 2010 and they have become recognizable in downtown Toronto’s urban agriculture.
A lot of the Toronto Beekeepers members give presentations and hold public events to inform the public and interested citizens about the ups and downs of beekeeping.
