We live in a world of the biggest, the brightest, the fastest. Coached from day one to be more than the best we can, to be the best. Most of the time I push onward and upward, but today I choose to follow. You see things don’t ever get done unless people follow. Cars don’t get built unless there’s someone willing to put lug nuts on wheels. Politicians don’t get elected unless someone licks stamps. (Okay, maybe I’m dating myself on that one.) But you get the point.
I met with a good friend of mine, Tina Moore, who has been an inspiration to myself and many others. The most recent, of many impressive, milestones in her life is the creation of the inaugural Jog4Joy, a 5K walk/run to raise awareness for mental and emotional wellness. I can’t help but follow. My life is filled with with friends and family that need to be touched by the message that this brave woman is sharing.
And now for the irony. In choosing to follow, I choose to lead.
Today, rather than just registering to participate, I chose to create a team. Team Essentia. I would like to invite you participate with me. There is a nominal registration fee of $30 and if you would like a t-shirt they are available for an additional $15. I promise a fun day and an after-party that will stir fond memories for years to come. Have a look at the website Jog4Joy, and if you like the idea of having a bit of fun for a great cause, please join us by registering with our team.
If you want to participate, but find that you just don’t have a spare $45, send and email to angelo at myessentia and I’m sure that we can find a sponsorship for you somewhere. Don’t worry, it’ll be our little secret.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday, October 14, 2012 @ 9:00 AM
