Green Thumbs Growing Kids

Green Thumbs Growing Kids offers food growing and environmental programs with 3 Toronto schools and 2 park sites.  The neighborhoods they take place in are all in the east downtown areas of Regent Park, Cabbagetown and St James Town.

Their programs now reach nearly 3000 children from these east downtown neighborhoods each year.  Their school food garden projects are about kids, parents, and plants.

Their mission is to work with children in urban areas, youth and their families to learn about growing and preparing fresh foods as well as cultivating it in an environmentally sustainable manner in hands on programs.

Toronto Wildlife Centre

This is a hotline service that offers free advice regarding a large variety of delicate wildlife situations is operated by the Toronto Wildlife Centre (TWC).  They provide basic emergency information 24/7.

Their goal is to help wildlife and us humans to peacefully co exist.  The education team that TWC employs has worked tirelessly to develop extensive resources to aid people responding to calls about wildlife from their communities.

This is the first type resource of it’s kind which is answering the call of the wild.  This is a Hotline Operator’s Guide in helping wildlife and people and will continue to show Toronto as a leader in the urban wildlife education field.

High Park Nature Centre

High Park Nature Centre hopes that everyone can learn stuff about the natural environment through outdoor education.

Employees test and design the innovative activities which they offer all year to visitors of all ages including students from high needs schools who participate in their programs.

The oak savannah ecosystem is protected and restored with High Park’s volunteers through planned events and invasive species removal.
