Essentia at the Beach Presents the 2 Day Cat and Kitten Adopt-A-Thon!

Oh do we have a special treat for you this upcoming weekend!

For all of you pet lovers out there, Essentia Toronto is hosting a cat and kitten adoption event this upcoming weekend from Saturday January 14th from 10am-6pm to Sunday January 15th from 11am-5pm!

Come on down and see these cute cats and kittens up for adoption at a special fee of $100 which includes spay or neuter, vaccination and includes 6 weeks of free Pet Insurance! Usually, the adoption price is $175 so this is even better!

Want to start 2012 by getting in Shape? Join the Seychelles Eco-Friendly Marathon!

You may not want to travel this far to get involved but it’s still a pretty cool marathon to check out for future plans!

But for those of you who don’t know anything about this yet, every year, the Seychelles Islands hosts its annual Seychelles Eco-Friendly Marathon. This year, it will be taking place on February 26 according to http://ftnnews.com/mice/15127-2012-seychelles-eco-friendly-marathon.html.

The event was created for many reasons. First of all, it helps contribute to Seychellois’ health and secondly, it brings Seychellois and visitors together. This will be the 5th edition that the islands will host and they can expect to receive some 300 overseas participants, on top of several hundred local participants states http://ftnnews.com/mice/15127-2012-seychelles-eco-friendly-marathon.html. So if you have the opportunity to take part in this marathon, then go for it!

The philosophy of the Seychelles Eco-Friendly Marathon is to spread the focus beyond mere competition, putting equal emphasis on appreciating exercise and being surrounded by the natural beauty of Seychelles; hence, the marathon will cover various fitness levels.

Medals and prizes are also offered to contestants! Super exciting!

And in case you didn’t know, the Seychelles Eco-Friendly Marathon is recognized internationally through the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) label. Toyota has the Most Environmentally Friendly Vehicles!

If you haven’t heard already, the 2011 Manufacturing Award was won by Toyota! This means that their company showed a commitment to environmental manufacturing. Looking to buy your next eco-friendly vehicle? Toyota seems like the right fit if you want to help keep our planet green. As stated by Torque News, Toyota won the award based on the outstanding environmental achievements of its European operations. Way to go Toyota!

Toyota was determined the winner after judges compared a series of short-listed companies and considered them all for how energy efficient the vehicles were, water usage and treatment, compliance with environmental regulations and the reduction of waste from production processes, according to Torque News. Toyota excelled in every category leaving judges very impressed and pleased at how they kept the environment in mind while designing and manufacturing their vehicles.

This event was the 5th annual Strategic Manufacturing Awards ceremony which was held in DĂĽsseldorf, Germany.

Native Bus Tour of Toronto

On Thursday, October 13, 2011 become a part of the environmental movement change in Toronto by participating in the three-hour Native Bus Tour event in Toronto!

Get informed about various ethno-cultural and Aboriginal communities. According to the website, this tour will give you the opportunity to learn more about indigenous history and presence in this city through some pre-contact and historical landmarks that are still relevant to and used by Aboriginal peoples living in Toronto today.

The cost of the tour is $65 and will take you through various parts of Toronto. It will begin at the Native Canadian Centre located at 16 Spadina Road, north of Bloor Street. The tour will take participants to places such as Lakeshore, High Park, Casa Loma, Yonge Street, Rouge Hill, Old Fort York and more.

Start October Off Being Green by Attending this Event!

The North Scarborough Green Festival is just around the corner so start preparing to dispose of your left over items!

Be sure to attend this first green annual event held at Norman Bethune Collegiate school called the North Scarborough GreenFest. You will have the chance to learn about the importance of recycling, composting, and energy conservation and so will your younger loved ones. You will also have the opportunity to meet local environmental organizations and businesses and have fun at the community garage sale.

This event will also feature door prizes, free hot dogs and so much more! Do you have kids? Not to worry, because there is a Kids Korner available with delicious treats to keep them busy!

This event is absolutely free to attend so come with your family! It will take place on October 1, 2011 between the hours of 10:00am-2:00pm at Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate. Toronto Festival For Garlic Fanatics!

On September 25, you are invited to join the rest of Toronto who has a passion and love for garlic! Toronto is holding it’s very first garlic festival called the Ontario Garlic Harvest.

Ontario Garlic Harvest is a new festival which will feature 20 garlic farmers and chefs who will be cooking with garlic. According to the website, you will be able to experience and enjoy tasting garlic dishes made by various chefs and also have the pleasure of meeting Ontario’s garlic farmers. Get stocked up with garlic for the winter season because at this event, you’ll be able to take home various garlic heirlooms to plant for your own garden at home!

Garlic is great for your health so get informed by attending this event. You’ll be surprised at how beneficial it is for you. You can download great garlic recipes at the website which you can use all year round. There is also a breakdown of the Festival Workshops and Talks listed on the website so you can plan ahead of time and attend whatever sounds of most interest to you.

This event will have a shuttle bus running every 15 minutes from Broadview subway station to the festival if you plan on coming by TTC. It will run throughout the day from 9am to 4pm at Evergreen Brick Works so come on down! Admission will be $5 for adults and free for kids who are under the age of 12.

Greenbuild Coming to Toronto

Greenbuild will be coming to Toronto from October 4-7, 2011. This will be the first time they host an event outside of the United States. Maroon 5 will be opening this celebration at the Air Canada Center so be sure to attend!

At the Green Exhibition, there will be guidelines which will have to be followed by exhibitors. According to the Greenbuild website, three levels of awards will be given out for Leadership, Advocate, and Partner.

Greenbuild is known for their international conferences and expos which focus on green building. They are also the largest. They offer tours, educational sessions, seminars and much more or those who are interested in keeping the world green so stay tuned!
