Start October Off Being Green by Attending this Event!

The North Scarborough Green Festival is just around the corner so start preparing to dispose of your left over items!

Be sure to attend this first green annual event held at Norman Bethune Collegiate school called the North Scarborough GreenFest. You will have the chance to learn about the importance of recycling, composting, and energy conservation and so will your younger loved ones. You will also have the opportunity to meet local environmental organizations and businesses and have fun at the community garage sale.

This event will also feature door prizes, free hot dogs and so much more! Do you have kids? Not to worry, because there is a Kids Korner available with delicious treats to keep them busy!

This event is absolutely free to attend so come with your family! It will take place on October 1, 2011 between the hours of 10:00am-2:00pm at Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate. Once again, you are welcome to bring any items to dispose of such as old cell phones, batteries, old eyeglasses and more. Visit the website for more specific details.

Toronto Festival For Garlic Fanatics!

On September 25, you are invited to join the rest of Toronto who has a passion and love for garlic! Toronto is holding it’s very first garlic festival called the Ontario Garlic Harvest.

Ontario Garlic Harvest is a new festival which will feature 20 garlic farmers and chefs who will be cooking with garlic. According to the website, you will be able to experience and enjoy tasting garlic dishes made by various chefs and also have the pleasure of meeting Ontario’s garlic farmers. Get stocked up with garlic for the winter season because at this event, you’ll be able to take home various garlic heirlooms to plant for your own garden at home!

Garlic is great for your health so get informed by attending this event. You’ll be surprised at how beneficial it is for you. You can download great garlic recipes at the website which you can use all year round. There is also a breakdown of the Festival Workshops and Talks listed on the website so you can plan ahead of time and attend whatever sounds of most interest to you.

This event will have a shuttle bus running every 15 minutes from Broadview subway station to the festival if you plan on coming by TTC. It will run throughout the day from 9am to 4pm at Evergreen Brick Works so come on down! Admission will be $5 for adults and free for kids who are under the age of 12.

Live Green Toronto Festival

Toronto’s largest outdoor green festival of the year is this coming Saturday July 16th. Live Green Toronto Festival will take over Yonge/Dundas square for the entire day from 11am – 10:30pm closing Yonge Street between Dundas and Queen Streets.

Last year there was over 30,000 people in attendance and this year the expectations are even bigger. There will be tons of green products and services, music and fun for the kids too.

And if you don’t already have one don’t forget to get a Live Green card. The cards are free of charge. Essentia is also a Live Green member and anyone with the card receives 10% off their purchase at Essentia in the Beach.  Click here for your card.

Beaches International Jazz Festival

The 23rd Beaches Jazz Festival is coming up. It is a 10 day event that will run from July 15th to July 24. From July 15-17 there will be concerts in the Woodbine Park. On Friday July 15th the times are 6pm to 10:30pm, Saturday July 16th from 12pm to 10pm and Sunday July 17th form 12pm to 6:30pm. The next event will be Streetfest from July 21st to July 23rd. The street will be closed between 6pm and 11:30pm while 50 bands will be performing between Woodbine and Beech Ave on Queen St East. July 23rd & 24th the party moves to Kew Gardens where acts will be on the main stage from 11am to 6:30pm.

Let the Celebration Begin !

The Toronto Jazz festival started on June 24th and will run until July 3rd. It is Toronto’s largest music festival and we receive visitor’s from all over to celebrate music and a wonderful atmosphere. Enjoy Canada Day long weekend with some Jazz !
