Weeds, weeds and more weeds!

Ontario’s cosmetic pesticide ban came into effect on Earth Day 2009. What this means is that no one can use pesticides on lawns, gardens, parks and schoolyards. Since then our green spaces have definitely become more healthy.

I know that a lot of people in Ontario are still getting these cosmetic pesticides from other sources outside of Ontario but I think most people are abiding by the law. Sure you need to use a little more elbow grease but in the end it is much better and healthier for everyone in Ontario. So to those Ontarian’s ordering pesticides outside of the province, STOP!

I have a large chunk of land, a wife, a son, a daughter that is due to arrive this coming Sunday, 2 dogs and a cat. All of them including myself love using our front, side and back lawn. On nice days we are out there all day long.

This spring has sprouted out some serious amounts of weeds. I have been using an old fashion weeder and spending quite a few hours a day working on the little buggers. Like I said before, it definitely takes a lot more elbow grease but knowing my family is much safer and healthier and I don’t have to worry about them getting toxic chemicals on them or inhaling it.

As of now I still have a patch that is roughly 30 feet by 30 feet but will be finished with that soon. I support Ontario’s pesticide ban as all Ontarian’s should.
