Retail giant Wal-Mart recently made the decision to say: “screw you customers, we don’t care! We’re still gonna sell that Monsanto genetically modified corn!”…. Ok so that’s not a direct quote, but you get the point.
Basically Wal-Mart has decided to go ahead and carry GMO Monsanto corn even though there was a loud outcry for them not to. The Food and Water Watch group alone presented a petition with 463,000 signatures asking them to ‘Say No’ to GMO corn.
Here’s what Wal-Mart said to the Chicago Tribune about their decision: “After closely looking at both sides of the debate and collaborating with a number of respected food safety experts, we see no scientifically validated safety reasons to implement restrictions on this product”.
Problem here is that foods are not required to be labelled as containing GMOs yet. So, as a rule of thumb I try to look for food that have the Non-GMO project seal. It’s one little thing that makes me feel like I have some control over what goes on my table.

WOW! I had no idea this was happening!!! Luckily this whole year I have bought my produce from a farmer’s market or local grocery store. But I will be sure to spread this around to my family so they know too.
