Organic Certifications

Essentia is a GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard) certified facility, able to manufacture organic finished goods. Every Essentia mattress and pillow is GOLS-certified verifying that they are made with >95% certified organic latex. Essentia's production process follows a globally recognized standard for organically grown, natural rubber latex products. Essentia holds a GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) 6.0 factory certification. This ensures that Essentia’s entire supply chain and production processes demonstrate the proper practices to track and manage all organic materials. The certification for organic fibers, GOTS is the leading textile processing standard. All of Essentia’s mattresses are GOTS certified organic, and Essentia’s organic sheets are 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. See our GOTS certification here.

In 2013 Essentia's mattresses were independently tested by Exova Labs for VOC emissions. Both tests are appropriate for some of the highest Indoor Air Quality Product Certifications for OEM Materials and Bedding. According to Exova's LEED Green Associate, Air Quality and Industrial Hygiene certified engineer "The VOC and formaldehyde levels can be characterized as background levels." This means ambient air or air already found the average home.

Internationally agreed standard that sets out the requirements for a quality management system specific to the medical devices industry. Safety and quality are non-negotiable in the medical device industry. Regulatory requirements are increasingly stringent throughout every step of a product’s life cycle. Essentia has demonstrated their quality management processes and ensure best practice in everything they do.

Quebec's local Health and Safety Board conducted tests for a full day of production at Essentia's factory. VOC capturing device's were placed at the nozzle of our organic foam mixing pumps in order to capture the highest possible readings of VOCs and to identify if there were any components found in the standard production of memory foam. They found that Essentia employees are not required to wear any protective gear or masks as there are no safety risks when making Essentia's Beyond Latex™ organic foam.

A collaboration of Delos and Mayo Clinic, the Well Living Lab's goal is to transform human health and well-being in the indoor environment by bringing together building science and health science. As a founding member, Essentia demonstrates leadership and commitment to indoor health and well-being.

Essentia is the only mattress approved by the Hippocrates Health Institute, and is the mattress featured in every room on campus. Our latex is Oeko Tex 100 Class 100 certified. This is Oeko Tex’s strictest certification available classified safe for babies.

All Dunlop latex used in Essentia mattresses meet EuroLatex ECO-Standards.

The EuroLatex ECO-Standard is a standard for quality. The TFI (Deutsches Teppich-Forschungs Institut in Aachen) in Germany, tests for the maximum acceptable limits for substances that are considered harmful to health. Substances tested for include: heavy metals, nitrosamines, pesticides, solvents, and volatile organic components. All Dunlop latex used in Essentia mattresses meet EuroLatex ECO-Standards.

Manufacturing and distributing Essentia products from a single common location cuts down fuel consumption in transportation, which allows for better prices and supports the North American economy as many of our ingredients are from both Canada and the United States. Our products are manufactured by hand in our GOLS and GOTS certified organic factory in Canada.
